    WerFault.exe error?

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with what I will refer to as the WerFault.exe - Application Error.

Basically what happens, anytime I click a program (such as Notepad) or even click something such as the volume control I get three errors back to back and the program will not open. Here is an example of the messages I receive while trying to open a program.

    Message 1
    WerFault.exe - Application Error
The instruction at 0x0f9e0408 referenced memory at 0x00350578. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program

    Message 2
    notepad.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x0f9e408 referenced memory at 0x001f0578. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program

    Message 3
    WerFault.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x0f9e0408 referenced memory at 0x001f0578. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program

It's ALWAYS the same three messages no matter what program I click on.

I'm running 32 bit windows 7 on my laptop with an i3 processor 4 gigs of ram.

The ONLY thing that has happened is that two days ago I split a TINY bit of water onto my laptop. Shortly after, the laptop shut down. I left it to dry for a bit and surely enough it booted back up. I noticed some problems at first, when I pressed the A key the D key was also popping up ex. pressing A would result in typing ad instead of just A. Also the motion pad and mouse buttons were not working (luckily I use a wireless mouse.) Then after a while the keyboard went back to normal and it's functioning properly ATM. But the mouse pad on the laptop still wasn't working UNTIL I reset the computer, then the mouse pad and the keyboard were all back to normal and the laptop seemed to be functioning 100% properly.

It was AFTER this, not BEFORE whatsoever, that I started getting those error messages anytime I'd click a program. If I was to reset my computer, I could briefly open any program, and continue to use those programs. But once that messages starts to appear I can NOT open any programs and but I can operate the ones I have open.

As I mentioned, this problem is persistent on any program I click. I can't even access programs by going to Run and trying to open them that way.

And as of today, I seem to be getting the message about once every minute without even clicking on a program. It just keeps opping up. It's giving me the same message except the application error is for rundll32.exe, and again this one is happening while NOT clicking on any program, it's poping up just while I'm typing here.

If anybody knows how I could fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Also, I've looked up dozens of fixes, even some on here but I've yet to find one that can succesfully fix my problem.

Welcome to Seven Forums JamesCurtis24. WerFault.exe is the windows error reporting service. Such errors are often caused by bad drivers. It can be difficult to find which, if any, drivers are the cause. You might try turning off the Windows error reporting service and see if this stops the inability to open programs issue. It isn't a fix, but a temporary solution at best.

    Services - Start or Disable

I would also run the System File Checker and see if it finds any errors.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
