Try rebuilding the prefecht folder.

Type in the command prompt:

del %windir%\prefetch\*.* /q
start %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll, ProcessIdleTasks

To me, sleep although very convenient has never to this day been quite "prime-time", sometimes, on some machines it works well, but all too often when one of my systems comes out of sleep something does not re-initialize right. I tend to stay with hibernate. Yes, it is slower to kick in, and slower to re-start, but I find it less quirky than sleep.
