protection/retraction

First, my giraffe has again disappeared so I don't want anyone thinking it is their fault. We can try tomorrow.
Thank you for the nice note about protection. Regarding Secunia, I know it is widely used and I have used it for about ten years. When they switched to ver 3 I was dismayed but quickly adjusted and still consider it one of my best programs. I have had reason to join the community and Maurice was a great tutor; he walked me through a difficult issue.

I guess I am not too sure I need Win Patrol but will give it a try for a couple of days.
I used Revo a long time but recently have read that IOBIT does a good job. I have it on desktop as it does not install.

Be careful with IObit anything. Going by memory they don't have a very good reputation.

Iobit

I have heard that before. Every opinion helps - thank you

Sometimes Revo does not find the program to be removed;do you have a recommendation?

Revo only works on 32bit applications so the ones it doesn't find for you will be the 64bit ones

Uninstall

I read the link and this is part of what it said, "Use this troubleshooter for an uninstall only if the program fails to uninstall using the windows add/remove programs feature."
So, if I want to remove a program, via add remove, it will likely be removed but leaving remants behind.
Wouln't the link be for programs that could not be uninstalled when add remove fails to work properly?
it does not seem to be a program that does a thorough job of cleaning as Revo does when it works.

>>This is useful information and thank you. I must find a program that uninstalls both 32 and 64 byte.

The REVO PRO version can handle the 64 bit.
Not free, but they give a full functioning 30 day free trial.

Revo Pro

If I cannot find a free uninstaller worth its salt, I will get the pro version.
These days it seems unecessary to pay for programs as this woud be a fiest for me;I hope someone catches up. It makes sense and dollars for Revo to not take care of 64 byte as their goal is to attract as many consumers who pay as possible.
They gave me years of free service so I cannot complain.

For those who use Revo, do you use the default normal mode or the more aggressive mode?

I use the aggressive mode but be sure to check each registry it marks for deletion as I have seen a few wrong entries.
