Safe meaning they won't harm your original data, system files, and partition?

Or safe meaning they are extremely reliable--say 99.9% or higher successful restoration rate?

Offhand, I can't recall issues with harming original data from any of the major tools.

But successful restoration rate is another issue entirely. Judging from posts on this and other forums, I don't think any are what I would call "extremely reliable".
Well, zero failures from many restores from both Acronis (on an XP system) and now with Macrium (probably over twenty) counts as extremely reliable in my view. I would use additional back-up methods if I thought it wasn't 'extremely reliable'.

I'm a tad confused.

Your original post would imply that you are looking for disk (as in CD/DVD) imaging software "like PowerISO" -- not drive imaging software.. After several responses referencing Macrium and Acronis, you stated that you found "Daemon Tools" problematic. Daemon Tools is optical media emulation software. Hence my confusion.

Are you looking for software to backup/image your OS ... or software to handle ISOs?

Please explain exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish.

I'm looking for emulation.

I've tried about 7-8 and only daemon tools and alcohol work.

The others said the image is corrupt or something.

I installed alcohol, is it known for issues? Daemon tools lite caused BSOD on my laptop.

I have my opinion, but I'm looking for others :geek:. Do you think a W7 machine, using IE9 as the only browser, that is maintained only by the on-board Disc Cleanup, Defrag and IE9 Browser Maintenance tool, will run as well as the same machine maintained with CCleaner, and a 3rd party defragger...
