HD Tune, unsafe shutdown count meaning? I shutdown properly every single time and I notice the number of Unsafe Shutdown Count is the same as Load Cycle Count and only for my Hitachi drives. The 1TB WD Black does not exhibit this problem.
I Googled for over an hour and could not find any relevant information on this particular S.M.A.R.T. value.
*edit* – Ok, I think I know what it means now, C0 Power-off Retract Count or Emergency Retract Cycle Count (Fujitsu) - Count of times the heads are loaded off the media. Heads can be unloaded without actually powering off. | My System Specs |

S.M.A.R.T values are NOT standardized and interpretation is manufacturer unique and, even then, varies from model to model.
Personally, I'd simply ignore HD Tune.
Run chkdsk X: /R where you substitute the desired letter for X:
Incidentally, a very easy way to view ?smart? values is with SPECCY (link in my signature). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD A10-4600M Motherboard AMD Pumori (Socket FT1) Memory 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-12-28) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7660G Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Screen Resolution 1600x900@60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives SSD 119GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device Internet Speed What the local pub, local coffee shop offers.
