    Safe Driver Dective type program?

I just purchased a sweet Alienware M51 Laptop, its OLD! 2004 and im having a problem finding what hardware is actually installed in it,, theres so mayn oprions on the alien ware website and it doesnt tell me what drivers i actually need,, mainly i need to get the graphics drivers and sound drivers. I called alienware (dell) and they couldnt help because it is so old. The computer runs sweet but has no sound and is using the standard VGA graphics.
I have only XP on it now but if i can get the right drivers i want to try an install of W7u on it.
So is there a Driver dective type program that will help me to find the correct drivers? Something with no Malware or viruses
I tried PC wizzard from CPUID and it wont run it just errors out, Speccy also but all it reads is that the VGA driver is what its using.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
    Thanks!

Here is the Alienware site for older, pre-Dell, systems. Maybe this will help you.

Alienware : The Ultimate Gaming Machine

Just remember that on SOME PC's there will not be 100% Vista/Windows 7 support.

yeah thats the thing,,, go there and select XP >Motherboards>Alienware (which is what this board is) then the only item that shows is x2 7525 Dual Xeon which this laptop does NOT have,, same with graphics if you go there and select the graphics theres like 10 or 12 to choose from and i have no clue which ones to get,, i tried the radeon 9600/9700 drivers and i just get a blue screen after they are installed so thats obviously not whats in this PC .... See why im lost? does that make sense?

The first thing I would do is run this from Microsoft.
Download: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Im not a great fan of installing drivers unless they are needed, but i used drivermax which works very well and never caused any issues.

Well Sentinel; I also agree with you. Unless I have a problem I leave my drivers alone. JRockZ is having problems.
