    Kodak Easyshare

    Hi

I seem unable to get Kodak Easyshare software working on my 32 bit Win 7 system. The version installed is the latest from the Kodak site, but gives me a "Kodak Easyshare Software has stopped working" error message, whenever I load images into it.
I really would like to get it working as its the only software I've found that creates tags that my Kodak photoframe will use. Just wondering if anyone has experienced and solved this problem?

    Thanks

    David

Is there an error code with the message?

Unfortunately not - just the Windows error message reported above. I've even spoken to Kodak support without success. What I can't understand is that this seems to be the only misbehaving application that I have on my otherwise robust win 7 system. So I'm struggling to understand what may be causing it.

Which version of Kodak Easyshare are you using? There may be compatibility issues:

It would seem that Version 7 status varies, but Version 8 is good.

Hi! billingd, welcome to 7F :)

For now check your Event Viewer for any Kodak listings in the Applications area.

I have a Kodak Easy Share camera too. I didn't install the bloatware on this machine. Instead, I use Picasa .... I like it sooo much better.
Picasa 3: Free download from Google

All you need to do is plug your camera (using the proper USB cord) into your computer, right click on the devise in 'Computer' and select to import pictures and videos. You can tag them as they are imported.

    Easyshare vs Picasa

    Hi

Yes Picasa is very good. I use it too. Unfortunately Picasa tags aren't compatible with my Photoframe. Only Easyshare tags seem to work. You'd probably expect this to be the case, as they are both Kodak products.
Thank you for the suggestion though.

    Hi! David,

It would be helpful if you could tell us exactly what model of Kodak camera, and photoframe you have.

I looked through the Kodak site under Photoframes and there are eleven different styles.
Surmising that you may have one of the best I choose this one the P-850 P, as in Photoframe, and its firmware date is Version 2011-01-27 Release Date 2011-03.

The reason I did this is because of the Faulting application name: EasyShare.exe, version: 8.20.62.82. Granted they in no way match or even come close.

No matter, here is what I would like you to try.

    • Run a anti-virus scan of your choice to make sure your machine does not contain any malware.
    • Double check and make sure you have the latest drivers for both your camera and photoframe. Install them to your Desktop because in the next step you will be asked to run Kodak's Clear Utility.
    • Then do this: How can I perform a clean installation of EASYSHARE Software?
    • I would suggest you do a system re-start after step #7, then proceed to step #8, but you will already have them on your Desktop. Right?
    • Check to see if everything works.
    • Please post back with your results good or bad.

Please help us to help you by filling in your System Specs (see How to - System Specs). Some members use Speccy - System Information - Free Download to help in finding out what their system specs are.
