    .NET Framework 3.5

    Hey,

As I understand it, this is built into Windows 7 SP1, which is why I can't use the installer to install 3.5.

The problem I'm having is that I am using a program that a friend made, which needs .NET framework 3.5 to run, and when I try to run it, it is giving an error which is a normal error it gives when .NET framework 3.5 isn't installed.

Does anyone know why Windows would say it's installed, but it won't work?

    Is there anyway around this?

Maybe improper or corrupt code with the program?

Well it worked properly on an install which wasn't SP1.

I had an install without SP1 on it, where I installed .NET 3.5 framework manually, and it worked perfectly.

I had to re-install Windows because my HDD died, and I let it update first this time. Now it won't work.

OK, I was going to suggest having a look at your update history to confirm you have the .NET 3.5 framework updates installed too.
Seems like the software isn't compatible with SP1, maybe?

A lot of other people are using it on SP1 no problem, and I did before my HDD died. It worked after installing SP1, but obviously, I'd installed .NET framework pre SP1 installation.

How can I check my update history?

Open windows Update either from control Panel or from Start/All Programs. In the WU window there is a link, View Update History. clicking it will open you history.

Their are many things in SP-1. If your friends program won't work with SP-1 it needs to be correct. Their is no way we can tell you why your friends program won't work with Windows 7 SP-1. Just curious; what is this little program?

Remember that, beginning with .NET framework 3.5, it exists in 2 flavours, "client profile" and "full". I don't remember what one is pre-installed on Win7, but I guess it's the client profile one, which has reduced functionality, and if your friend targeted the full framework, it won't work. Have your tried to downloading the full one?
Just in case, this is the link: Download: .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 (full package) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
