Clean Install 2 partitions - Where to install applications?

    Hello,

I Installed my windows 7 on C. Now I have 100GB Free on D. So I was thinking if it's good idea to install programs on D? and keep C for windows only?

Like Install firefox, paint.net antivirus all in D..Is that a good idea? or will my laptop be slow?

No, its not a good idea because most programs like to be on the same partition as Windows is on.

    Hello Iceman,

While it may be best to keep your programs installed on C if you have the free space to do so, it's not going to hurt anything if the program gives you a choice of where you want to install it to while installing it. It will not affect the performance of your computer.

The only drawback to installing programs on D, is that D will now be considered a system drive and will be included in any system images you create, and cannot be unselected.

    Hope this helps, :)

    Thanks Brink & Lawrence.

    OK I'll use C :)

My laptop (I posted the link above) in quite slow it's killing me. I changed the setting "best for performance" No visual effects now but still slow. Is there any way to make it faster ?
