    Please help Desperate!!


    Hi i have done a clean windows 7 install and now i cant play any bluray movies my acer came with cyber link power dvd 10 and after i re installed windows i lost it,I have downloaded the software but i have to pay for it to be activated
    i have also downloaded VLC Media player but i don't think my laptop is compatible with it as it does nothing . After a quiçk search i find that my ACER 6930G only works with cyber link ??

    Is there something that i'm doing wrong??

    I believe that what you're doing wrong is trying to find a freeware Blu Ray player. I think that none exist that will play copy protected disks. (They may work if you have a copy protection removal tool like AnyDVD HD, but that's not free either.)

    The least expensive way to get a Blu Ray player may be to buy the latest version of the Nero suite. I haven't tried it.

    Did your PC come with any CD/DVDs? It may include the Power DVD version that may have the serial# on the label.

    VLC will play Blu ray if you do some modifications.

    Thanks i have tried your links but i dont know what i am doing the pc came with cyberlink 10 ( no discs) it looks like i will have to buy one

    THEN ... you should have attempted a restore instead of a clean install. With a restore, you would have automatically reinstalled all the stuff that came preloaded with the PC -- a mixed blessing.

    If you don't have restore media, or a way to do a restore, you could try contacting Acer and see if they will sell you full restore media. Check their price against that of a new version of Cyberlink Power DVD (I think it's up to version 12 now).
