    adding my DxDiag
Its a bought system that I have added a cooling system to. The system is just over a year old. I know a HDD isnt supposed to fail so soon but I can happen and maybe I have just been unlucky. All my other hdd work just fine.
Also attached is the readiness log

Nice specs AP Now I am hoping and assuming you have the OS disk?

Now just as a suggestion I personally would use a SSD for boot up and the rest however you have then configured for everything else.

Use the tutorial for setting up a SSD and installing onto Tutorial search - Windows 7 Forums

Benefits are the drive will be new and faster and the suspect C: gone.

I will go for the SanDisk 240gb SSD option next.

I might suggest you need to run thorough scan for any viruses or malwares.

Some of our local virus prevent Msconfig and Regedit from running also. Try running those two at command line just for a proof.

Yeah Kevin if my option is not an option that would be worth a try I recently found SuepAntiSpyWare and ESET scanners are pretty good as well as the usual malwarebytes
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.65.0.1400 - TechSpot Downloads
Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner | Online Virus Scan | Virus Scanner
    plus perhaps Kaspersky TDSS Killer
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller for a rootkit

Oops sorry AP that SSD install tutorial is

Ok AP the SuperAnti I found to be he most useful and the Kaspersky will be ruthless with rootkits (I meant after the Malwarebytes (MBAM)

Clean install yesterday AND SP1 refuse to install.
First question wasn't the SP1 already in the disk? What disk did you use?

Since you just installed it and I smell you torrented the iso, I'd really say screw that and do a real clean reinstall following this tutorial (with links to reliable iso files)
