Technical problem using Word, Chrome and other S/W.

    Hello there,

I woke up this morning and the computer was on low battery and I couldn't plug the charger in time for it to stay on charge. This meant the computer had a message"start in repair mode " or "start normally" I chose the former first and it took almost 2 hours and nothing happened, so I turned the computer off.

When I turned the computer back on, I am unable to use any software as it keeps prompting me with some message with a dll. For .e. g I normally use Google chrome or Microsoft Word. For both it had these messages..

Word- "Installing Microsoft Office Single Image 2010..., later WinWord.Exe System Error- The program cant start because MSVCR90.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem "

Google Chrome- The program can't start because COMCTL32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I have tried to restart my computer, restore my computer to an earlier point so far with no luck. Any suggestions would be welcome. Help!.

    Thanks!.

    Hi, Welcome to SevenForums,

This does sound like a strange issue, you could try following this guide - SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

This will repair any system files.

    Regards,
