Partition Guru Free version

Has only fairly recently become available in English.

Free version does not do file recovery and works for mbr partition style ( pro version does both of those as well ).

Have been testing this - it works well - haven't been able to wrong foot it yet.

Converted Primary to logical, shrank a partition into 3. Moved one those across the other and extended an o/s partition backwards into it. It is quick, it aligned all of them properly, and wrote nt6 partition code.Partition recovery works well, too.

It also can make and restore it's own backup images - which it can open and you can copy out individual files.

You can create vhd's and mount most image files - handy if you have made a windows backup image - get individual files out, or make an image of it - then restore the pg image if needed.

Imaging with the free version is by partition/drive, no sceduling or differentials, but it does file level images - great for restoring to a smaller partition.

It comes native x86 and x64 - easy to throw into 64 bit winre.wim.

Hello Sy -

Now that you've had a chance to test PartitionGuru would you recommend it over MiniTool Partition Wizard?

No, it is another program - always useful to have more than one. The big deal with partition guru is native 64 bit coding - so easy to run it in standard 64 bit pe. It also has extra functions - like mounting vhd and making backup images. You can't do that with partition wizard.

It is small too.

Partition Wizard is growing alarmingly in size.
