Solved I mysteriously inherited something called MyNetSearch

I have no idea how this happened but the other day I mysteriously had MyNet Search appear when I opened up a new tab. Googled it and all it came up with was My WebSearch. I am using Firefox as my browser. Checked my extensions and it wasn't there. When I go into options, it shows MSN as my home page. Can someone tell me how to get rid of this thing? :huh:

There is also this thing, perhaps you can search for it on your pc - I assume you have a decent file search program like everything, or similar:

Just have the search that came with Windows but now that you say that, used to have Google Desktop Search. Will download it again and search for it. Yes, it appears that it is my default search engine. I'm fairly new to Windows 7 and don't remember where I go to check. Just googled and found out there is no longer a google desktop. I don't know of any other search programs that are out there.

I may be wrong but i think it may have only changed your homepage (rather than actually installed anything)

You say there is nothing in the firefox extensions, can you check your installed programs to see if there is a toolbar installed with that name?

If not then i think it's just a case of the homepage being changed (maybe worth running some spyware/malware scans as a precautionary)

If you've downloaded some "free smilies" or some other freeware, the mynetsearch toolbar may have com bundled with it. You'll want to look for the toolbar 'uninstall' in one of those program files, then delete the 'named' program folder.

I've checked the program files. There is no toolbar and no MyNetSearch. I do not have the toolbar for MyNetSearch only the search portion and the home page. I ran Malwarebytes with no results, then ran Super Anti-Spyware and it came up with 117 problems but none of them included MyNetSearch and after running both programs MyNetSearch is still there. Any other ideas? I did download something called Quebles but I got rid of their toolbar and the MyNetSearch didn't show itself until several days after I installed Quebles. Going to try the suggestions from SIW2.

Problem solved. It would help if I knew what I was doing and I could have saved ya'll the hassle not to mention me. I went into the Add-Ons for Firefox and disabled the Quebles toolbar. Then went back into Firefox and opened a tab and lo and behold, no MyNetSearch. Thank you for your help.
