7 Zip extract to subfolder possible?

I have been a long time winrar user but since Win7 and this forum I have switched to 7zip since it is dramatically faster at it's job.

My only gripe is I don't see a clear easy way to tell it to unzip into a newly created subbolder as winrar use to do.

I know before you hit the unzip button you can type in and create a new folder name in the address bar of the program but winrar had the option of double clicking the archive, hit extract, and that's it 2 clicks and you were done.

I don't see it in the options anywhere to tell it to create a subfolder based on the archives name.

    Am I missing it?

Are you opening the file and then trying to extract it? That's a little overkill. 7zip works the same way as WinRAR, if installed properly. It should install context menus, so you can have all those options simply by right-clicking the file.

That was my other gripe, I don't have that option either, and just assumed it wasn't a feature of 7zip since I didn't see it in the preferences either to add it to the context menu.

    Did I mess up somewhere?

I had an issue where 7zip didn't show up on the right click menu. Turns out that I installed the 32-bit EXE on my 64-bit box rather than the 64-bit MSI that they offer for 64-bit. Uninstalled 32-bit, reinstalled 64-bit and my context menus are there now.

hmmm, I will try a resinstall seeing as that I see it in my x86 program files folder. thanks for the tip. In regards to my first post though about extracting in a subfolder, is that possible with this program to set it automatically?

Disregard my last post, with the x64 version installed now, and the context menu working, it automatically creates a subfolder when I simply select 'extract here'. Perfect, even simpler than originally sought.

Once again, the members of this forum come through, and do it in minutes to boot!
