Windows 7: Missing MSXML4

I have suddenly developed a rash of applications failing to launch due to a "Missing MSXML4" file. A file search verified that it is present in the "Sys/WOW64" folder so I presume that it is somehow corrupted.

What is the best way to repair or replace this?

Hi woodart try here Download: MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 (Microsoft XML Core Services) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details or run the system file checker sfc /scannow command and see if it finds and replaces the corrupt file

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You may need to run the command 3 times if any corrupted files are found.

I have the scan running right now. I tried the 4.0 SP3 download but it didn't fix it.

Hi woodart ,It may be wise to also run an A/V scan using mbytes or similar scanner just to be on the safe side

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free AV program.

Well, I have run the sfc /scannow 3x, with no errors showing, done an AV scan with no infections and uninstalled/reinstalled MSXML4 SP3 with no positive result. I have also reinstalled the affected programs.

I can't imagine what's keeping the programs from seeing it.
