    Program to adjust monitor brightness?

I am using a hp w2207h. I want a software method that easily allows me to adjust the brightness. Currently I have to go through the monitors menu using the physical buttons on the monitor.

There isn't one. The only thing a piece of software can do is desaturated the colors to make it appear it has dimmed the screen.

if you regularly dim the monitor in the evening then you could try flux software which adjusts the monitor brightness according to the light outside, you enter your location details latitude and longitude, you can get these from the site linked.

Display tuner is said to be the best as it actually accesses the monitor to adjust. But you might try ScreenBright , or Gamma Panel .

You need a tool which controls the monitor using DDC-protocol. SceenBright did this, but seems no more available. There is another very handy tool, ClickMonitorDDC, which definitely works with hp w2207h and most other DDC-compatible monitors.
I tested a few DDC-tools, some didn't work or only sometimes, but ClickMonitorDDC never failed for me.
ClickMonitorDDC is a portable freeware tool to adjust brightness or contrast of a DDC compatible monitor by simply clicking a notification icon in the taskbar tray area, this icon also shows the actual monitor-values.
There is support for multi monitors and shortcut icon command-line arguments.

There is another tool released recently: Free Monitor Manager. It can control a monitor using several methods, including DDC protocol, and has some advanced features, such as changing brightness using global hotkeys or automatically adjust the brightness when you run some apps.

Free Monitor Manager - this program is not quite free.
There's another handy program for PC to control monitor brightness software, WinXP - 10: MyMonic
