Can't Open Encrpted File (Locked?)

I encrypted a file using my other computer running Windows 7 and I just transfered it over. I try to open it, (I used TrueCrypt), and only on my laptop does it fail to open the file. I've tried opening it with TrueCrypt over and over but it doesn't register it.

I really need this file open or else I can't use the stuff in it for work. Can someone please help?

Put the file back on the computer it came from and open it (unencrypted). Take it to your other computer unencrypted.
What was the method used to transport from one computer to another?

I used an external hard drive. The problem I have is that the computer I encrypted it on is now dead. I can only use the hard drive from it.

The only way you can open it is to export the certificate from the old pc. Since you don't have it I don't think you will be anle to open it.

Edit
Since you have the hard drive you might be able to get it but this is something someone more experienced will have to confim and help you with.

My understanding on this subject is very limited. Having said that. The code/password/certificate is on the hard drive you remove from the old computer. If you know that code you should be able to access the encrypted information from any computer that will recognize the hard drive. You must know that code to proceed.

I do know the code. The problem is when I try to mount and load it with TrueCrypt. It doesn't mount or show it in the drive menu.
