Flash CS4 with W7 x86
I'm running Windows 7 x86 RTM with a 2.8ghz quad core processor, 4gb of ram, and a GTX275 video card.
Flash CS4 is running so ridiculously slow for me that it is unusable - which is unacceptable seeing as I use it for my work/school. As far as I have noticed the other Adobe suite (Photoshop, Aftereffects, etc) all see to work fine. Flash, however, lags so bad I pretty much switch windows back to firefox for a couple minutes while I'm waiting for it to load from the click I made.
It wasn't always like this..It started off with no problems what-so-ever, ran great. It gradually started getting worse, so I restarted Flash thinking maybe it had a memory leak or something similar. Started it back up, it was slower than normal but workable..20 minutes later it was pretty much completely freezing up every click. Restarted it again, this time running it with admin capabilities and Vista compatibility, and it's still unusable.
Any suggestions as to what to try? I ran CCleaner, wiping all of the temporary files and fixing the registry (only about 15 errors in the registry), and it made no difference.
Also, second question, would it be worth it to reformat to W7 x64? No idea why I didn't originally install x64, but is the performance increase worth the hassle of reformatting/reinstalling everything? I already have all of the install files for everything I have installed on my external HD, so reinstalling everything wouldn't be too bad, but I only want to if it's going to make a noticeable difference in performance.
