    Finding free applications

I am trying to avoid reinstalling a lot of the junk apps that came with my OEM machine when I go to Windows 7. I don't want to invest in a lot of new apps however. Any suggestions as to what apps I would need and the best ones out there. I have a CD burner in the unit and a DVD player. Soundcard and video are no problem/

SnapFiles is a favorite of mine which also has the ability to filter out freeware. Also almost every program is reviewed.
