mine does the same. It is annoying I must say. I liked that in XP, you could minimize the actual msn program to the bottom right, and have your conversation windows click-able along the bottom taskbar as open windows.

ahh, easy solution, run the windows live messenger in compatibility mode for Vista SP1.

(Right click Messenger, Properties, Compatibility, Run in compatibility mode with: Vista Service Pack 1)

ok that got rid of the live id window, thanks guys, but is there a way to get rid of the main window from being pinned so it's JUST conversation windows pinned at the taskbar and the main program window is in the notifications area? Do you see what I'm getting at? If not let me know and I'll post a pic.

ahh yeah, just when your convos are up, minimize them, then open the contacts screen, and close it, it will automatically go to system tray automatically. :)
