    'Windows Live'

    1) is windows 7 available with different versions of 'Windows Live'? The version shown on you tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=sLTnsWV2tjE&feature=endscreen) is different from the version in my new PC the displays are different!
    1) Why is it that the full screen original source (video from the dvd) when i imported to 'Windows Live movie maker' also shows as full screen only if i select the 'standard' settings? If i select 'widescreen' then it shows both ends of the screen with blacken stripes.
    2) But even if i select 'standard' or the 'widescreen' settings the end result will be that the project i save will have both ends blacken and its not full screen, no matter which of the following method used to save:
    a) save movie– standard definition
    b) save movie - wide screen (480p)
    1. save movie – high definition (720p)
      d) save movie – high definition (1080p)
      3) is there a way to have the saved project in full screen as per the original source and not with blacken stripes on both ends.

    1. Is there a way to find out which version of 'Windows Live movie maker' is in my PC? Cannot find from the control panel's programs!

To find the Version number, do this:

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\MovieMaker.exe ---> Right click on the exe > Properties > Details tab. There you get the Product Version.

    Hello whs,

Did as you suggested but still the version of window live is not to be found but all other technical info are available.

Do you know of any other free editing software which is capable of doing simple editing with reasonable quality? Thanks.

This is the site for down under I just Googled Windows Live Essentials it came up straight away try the Google first see if you come up with the version in your area and then the link if you cannot find it.

Windows Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials

you need to download and install what you want. But whatever you do if you create a Live account make sure you write down the username and password.

I use this editor most of the time. It is lossless and very fast. But read the instructions. There are a few limitations.

ThankYou WHS. Asper your recommendation tried to use MACHETE VIDEO EDITOR LITE andexperimented with DVDs, VCDs + videos but unfortunately the followinghappens each time either a DVD, VCD or video is inserted. When i goMACHETE VIDEO EDITOR LITE's 'file'- 'open' a message pops up -'Noitems matched your search' but when i import projects from 'myvideos' its workable so i cannot import any new DVDs, VCDs + videosfrom the drive but can only work from the saved projects! Any clue, please?

That is correct. It is for editing files that are on your system - not for importing files (at least I have never tried that).

PS: please use a bigger font. I have only 40% vision and had to copy your post into a word file and make it bigger.
