    iTunes. Problems with upgrade 11.0.1

Unable to install as nearing the end of installation get the following message. Service 'iPod Service (iPod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services. 3 options are given, Abort, Retry, Ignore. I am logged in as an administrator but clicking Retry or Ignore does not help. Has anyone got a suggestion to solve this please.

    iTunes. Problems with upgrade 11.0.1

I got the same message on my Dell XPS but I was persistant and got 11 installed. I lost around 1400 songs, all audiobooks, around 50 movies and all my playlists. I literally worked on iTunes all day last Sunday and, after several calls to Apple customer service, I killed 11 and reinstalled the last version of 10. iTunes wouldn't work at all as 11 had changed some of the .itl files. Finally, I got an Apple tech to e-mail the instructions on killing 11 and reinstalling 10 (it took over 2 hours to do this). After that, I got everything back except my playlists.

I will install 11 sometime but not in the near future. By the way, even if I could have gotten 11 up and running, I didn't care for the new layout. I found it slow and cumbersome.

Hi Mike, Thanks for this reply. I like you persevered and in the end got 11 installed but fortuneately did not lose anything. I agree 11 is horrible but rather than go through the hassle of trying to reinstate 10 will live with it. Apple have a lot to answer for.
    Regards.

Red Roger, I'm glad things worked out and you didn't loose anything! I was on the phone with Apple techs today and they really helped me out getting 10 back up and running.
