Fan speed on auto in CCC

Got a small question about CCC (catalyst control center).
I read some posts around the interwebz. When you have fan speed set on auto the speed dos not go over 35 or 40% speed?

When i had it on auto i never hear the fan kick, never did i see the speed going up in CCC.

Anyone know if this is true?

That's a misconception, infact when it's set to auto it runs at the speed until it's under load and only then will the fan increase as needed. If you have a dual monitor setup you can open CCC and then play a known game to push the gpu and watch the fan speed increase pass the auto settings as you play the game.

yeah, that kinda makes sense. I got it set on 40% now, and it keeps the card cool.
Will try to set it back on auto and see what happens

Dos the speed only reach up to the set speed % tho even on auto? or dos it go past that?
