Dell laptop with key

Hello All,
I have a Dell laptop with the COA on the bottom. Am I right in thinking that this can only be used to for installation on the laptop alone and not un-installed from the laptop and installed on a new build ?

Yes. The Dell OEM version of Windows is only legally licensed for the system it was delivered with. If you have a Dell issued DVD of the OS it will only install on another Dell (it must see the Dell BIOS).

Actually, this is the same with any OEM version of the OS. Its only legally licensed/activated on the PC it was initially installed on.
