Error message: Coreldraw has stopped working.

I use coreldraw x5 and it just started crashing. It gives me the error message: CorelDRAW has stopped working. a program caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. As a result of this, I cannot open the original file i was working on, i have to work on the back up file, but it still crashes.

    Hello OG1.

Do you have Service Pack 3 installed?

If it is, and still the problem exists, do a repair install. Go to Control Panel > Program and Features. Select "CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5" and click the button "Uninstall/Change". It will result in this setup window:
Error message: Coreldraw has stopped working.-2013-01-15_193543.jpg

Select the "Repair" option and next ... and continue in the process.

Let us know how it works after that.

    Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it is still crashing. Also any idea as to why the original file wont load up? but the back up opens up as normal.

There seems to be an element in your atrwork of the Corel Draw file that is causing it to crash, maybe it's an effect or bitmap that has some corruption. There are a few things you can do ...

    1. Open your backup file and re-save it as a different version of .cdr (there could have been a glitch when you saved the original) (pic 1)
    2. Export the backup file to .cmx, then start a new drawing, import the .cmx then save it again under a new file name as a .cdr (pic 2)
    3. Navigate through each object and remove any "grouped effects" or "transformations" etc. This may take quite a while depending on how many objects you have.
    4. If you are still struggling you could always PM me with the artwork and I could have a look at it and maybe figure out where the problem is

I know this is a really old post but i'm hoping you can help. I have a brand new Dell PC all in one with Windows 10. I just bought Corel Draw X7. It installed just fine but wont open. I get the "A problem caused the program to stop working....Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" message. I have done the repair program twice and also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. My windows 10 is completely up to date. I'm not very techie so i'm hoping this is a simple solution that you can help me with. Is there some easy thing I need to install.

CDx7 was pretty buggy almost a year ago for me I ended up down grading to a more stable CDx6
Not sure what would happen if you ran it in compatibly mode ?
10 is new and Corel is slow to fix issues
