running programs

Hi everyone, just wondering if it is possible to find out if a certain program was running on my computer at a given time. I'm not talking about a scheduled task, but I had a program running at night, woke up and it wasn't running, so is there a way to tell what time it was last running or stopped?

Thanks for any help.

You can always check Windows Logs in Event Viewer for any events associated with that program.

But it is almost impossible to find out what you want post factum.
It also depends on a program, depends on many factors.
My be this program make its own logs. May be this program keeps settings in a file and saves it every time it is terminated. In this case we can check date of a file, pretty much the same with torrent client or downloads manager. Prefetch file might give some info as well.

Please give us more specific details to analyze.

I still rely on an old 16 bit Lotus Organiser program to maintain a number of things. I wonder if anyone knows if there is a program that allows it to run on Win 7 (64bit mode), with or without incurring Virtual XP. Preferably NOT. A bit thanks to any pointers.

Two desktops running at the same time. Background programs running.
I noticed this issue a little while back. As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs. A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on...
