OK, I would think you need to clean up all temp files.

Quit all programs, Click on Start and in the search field type %temp%. Click on the Temp folder in the dialog box to open it. Select all folders/files and delete them. Some files in use cannot be deleted. Skip them but by and large you would have deleted most of the temp files that include old setup files. Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Now reinstall CDBurnerXP.

If you still have problems, report. Then I will scratch my head further. :) ( I am away from station for the next two days starting midnight today 14 hours from now.)

A writeup on cleanup: Delete Windows 7 temporary files and recover real estate.

jumanji.Well here we are again,Followed you instructions regarding temp files.
Also run CCleaner and did a reg cleaner with same program.Did a restart of desktop,Then followed the link you provided and downloaded CDBurnerXP went and installed it it all went well but did not install all other languages and unchecked the tool bar section.
Did a restart and all seems okay opens up in a matter of seconds,It was really bothering me to find out what was actually causing the problem.
Most probably it was a combination of temp files etc and also I was down loading the software from a different source to the one you provided.

Well thanks very much once again,Very much appreciated.

Sorry off the point of the above,Can you recommend an alternative ti windows media player apart from VLC Please.
    Thank You.

Glad your problem is resolved. I am convinced that the the old setup files in the temp. folder was the root cause for the problems you faced.

The only player - apart from WMP - I have and would recommend is Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/downloads/
