Random program "save file" popping up?

In the last 2 hours, I've gotten 2 messages like this:

One was for Google Chrome, one was for MSI Afterburner. These are both programs I have installed on both of my hard drives, so one hard drive is not the problem. The directories they point to are legitimate as well. However, I never pressed anything to get these pop-ups. What's even more weird, is that it says "SAVE AS", as if it's a download from the internet or something... is it a virus?

Hello Beolex and welcome to Seven Forums.

A few questions if I may. How long after installing Afterburner before you started getting these pop-ups? Same question for Google Chrome. Did you download and/or install any other apps (like Afterburner Remote Server, etc) that could now be interfering? Do the pop-ups just appear on screen while the computer is idle or do they appear only when you're using the keyboard for routine tasks? Did you assign any hotkeys to Afterburner or Chrome that could now be throwing out these pop-ups?

If you haven't already done so, update your installed anti-virus suite and run a full scan. You could also use these free on-demand scanners to make sure something didn't slip past your primary suite. (No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it. So using more than one tool is never a bad idea.)

I've had MSI Afterburner and Google Chrome installed for months now. I was doing routine mouse/keyboard strokes. I had Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) opened up too, if that could cause the problem. I didn't assign any hotkeys to MSI Afterburner or Chrome to signal these pop-ups. (Notice how it says "Save File"... as if it wants me to download something from the internet).

I have ran an anti-virus and my PC is clear and has no viruses. I use a licensed version of Avast. I heard from other people I should download Microsoft Security Essentials because it's better and free.
