Need Java plugin for one site. Need Advice.

    Hi yall,
I am taking IT courses (beginner) and one skillport site that I need to use runs on Java. I uninstalled Java well before the latest security issues with 6 and 7 were released. I have done as much research as I can on the patches and 7.11, and the lack of consistent confidence in the latest versions and the patches is not encouraging. I realize that Java has a sort of inherent potential to have security risks, and that is why I prefer not to use it, but I have to with this one site that I need for my course work.

I called Tech support for the site and they said that their site does not use any of the features that have been proven to have security issues. The guy told me that I can use their site with confidence, but should be careful with other sites that use it.

Should I trust this skillport site that provides learning environments to education institutions? If so, can I enable java just for this site and disable it each time I leave the site, and avoid security risks?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would run it in a virtual system using VMware Player. And if you don't have a Windows license, use Zorin.

Have a look here: Having fun with Zorin

Now if you really want to get fancy, install it on an external drive: Portable OS - Carry your OS on an External Drive

Linux (Zorin in this case) does not create any virtual machine. The virtual machine is created by VMware Player.

Read the tutorial (my second link above) and you will see. Read also Shawn's tutorial that is linked inside my tutorial.
