Default CCleaner installation has wipe free space drives checked.Have you tried unchecking?

If you have Wipe Free Space checked, UNcheck it. That doesn't need to be run.

Disabled Wipe Free Space, my computer still hangs. Haven't attempted to run it without multiple passes, though that won't help me, considering that's one of the reasons I use CCleaner. You reckon I should ask on Piriform forums/support?

I used to run it at 35 passes,it wasnt exactly fast, but you are mentioning lags and hangings.I am sure that 7 passes are doing the same great job.

I still use the 7-pass, semi-paranoid mode, and it takes under 30 seconds to clean, of, 60-70MB of assorted file types. The CCleaner user forum may be of help to you, some of them are fairly smart on the subject. You could spend $30 for the "pro" version to get Piriform support but I don't think it's worth it.

FYI, this is what I have checked along with the 7 pass option. Under Applications, all boxes are checked.

Today I tried cleaning with most options selected besides recycle bin, and Windows hung again. So it's more than just Recycle Bin

Check msconfig/Services tab, click Hide All MS Services and see what's left. Try unchecking everything except you security, reboot, and see if that helps.

Nothing, unfortunely. Those services I disabled don't appear anymore, I guess they're gone forever.

I'm out of ideas Craig. Try giving the CCleaner forum a shout.
