Unable to open Win7 normally with Photoshop Essentials 11 installed

I have been using PSE 7 for a few years. I just bought PSE 11. The PSE 11 instruction
sheet said it is OK to have two versions installed at the same time. I installed PSE 11.

I restarted the computer and Win7 wouldn't open. I tried a couple of times and
then opened Win7 in Safe Mode. I used System Restore to eliminate PSE 11 and,
and after a restart, Win7 opened normally (with PSE 7 still installed).

I uninstalled PSE 7 and restarted Win7 normally. I installed PSE 11 and Win7
would not open. In Safe Mode I uninstalled PSE 11 and reinstalled PSE7 and Win7
is opening normally now.

Did I just waste a lot of money upgrading to PSE 11?
Adobe Forums have not been able to provide an answer to this problem.
Does anyone here have a good idea?

I have PSE 11 installed (installed about a month ago) and not having any problems.

I don't know what to tell you other than try installing PSE 11 as Administrator and see if that helps.

Does Win 7 start at all? Did you try the Repair My Computer option when you press F8 (should be on the menu with Safe Mode and other options).

I did run Startup Repair on the Win7 installation DVD. It found no problems.

I'll try adminstrator mode.

File Open dialog and thumbnails ... Photoshop
Hi I'm not talking about PSD files here, just jpgs and other "regular" image formats. I have no problems with seeing thumbnails by default in any other software's File Open dialogs other than Photoshop (CS4 in my case). No matter what I have tried in Folder Options (yadda yadda) PS CS4 refuses...

Photoshop won't open
As of today, Photoshop CS4 won't open. When I try to start it, I see the blue circle going round for a few seconds, then it stops. In Process Management a Photoshop CS4 will sit, using only 120 kB, doing nothing. I cannot end the process. When I try to start CS4 again, the same thing will happen...
