Windows 7: Java Runtime Env not available to run Movie Manager Pro

Java Runtime Env not available to run Movie Manager Pro

Hey everyone. This is the error I get when I try to run MovieManger

"A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run MovieManager. No Java Virtual Machine was found after searching the following locations. C:\Program Files (x86)\MovieManager\jre\bin\javaw.exe
javaw.exe in your current PATH"

This is a new install after upgrading Motherboard and processor. There haven't been any problems elsewhere.

What I've done so far:
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled Waterfox
2. Uninstalled/installed Java 7 and MovieManager a few times
-(on one occasion used Microsofts Fixit tool to remove)as advised by MovieManager support
3. Tried to run program in safemode
4. Tried adding the command " ;C:\Program Files (x86)\MovieManager\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" to the environment variables path
5. Tested version of Java and it is working

I know I should have come here hours ago but I do try to solve problems on my own but no joy so far.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

carefully remove what you added to the path and try adding this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin"

do not include the file name

then restart the computer and test your app :=)

edit: added the quotation marks around the path with a space
....and you will need to separate that path from the other ones with a semicolon

On the advice of the MovieManager support he suggested I install the x86 version of java - (I have a 64bit op sys and a 64bit browser so assumed I needed 64bit java, which I did, but also needed the x86 version for 32bit options. So two versions of Java.

Thank you, Ken

You are welcome.

Take note that the 32bit version of Java comes with a update program that checks for newer versions. Once you install the 64bit, the update tab goes away in the CPL applet. I'm not sure if that halts all automated checking for updates or not.
