Libreoffice won't install on Windows 7 64 bit

    Libreoffice 4 won't install on Windows 7 64 bit

The installer seems to start but it will never succeed.
It would take a couple of minutes. You could wait forever.
It also won't stop, unless you force it to do in taskmanager.
Tried several new downloads keeping the same problem.
Found only one entry in the register which I removed.

Do you have any other office applications installed? From what I can find (from a quick search) this seems to be the main culprit. OpenOffice especially. If so delete that (them) and try again. Also, have you tried installing as administrator?

It will install with Office 2003 installed on a PC. I just installed Libre Office on my Win 7 64 bit system (with Office 2003).

Now that's funny, you can run Libreoffice next to Windows I believed.
What has Liberoffice to do with Windows Word?
The Installer didn't show the administrator option (R clicked on it).
In the past I also have had both programs running, Openoffice with Word 2007, but not on W7 64 bits.
Where did you get the download? I tried it from the official site.
More complains exist about the failing installer.

    Thanks for the reply

Hum well I installed the Kingsoft Office - free admittedly might not be how much you want and from past experience with Libre and OO I think it is a whole heap better than either of them.

It is light and easier to use in my mind none of the clutter.

Free Office Software, Kingsoft Office Suite Free 2012

Oh meant to mention the paid for versionis only half the price of the Microsoft program

Yep Indy what I like about it is that it is so quick to open and use. The only thing is that annoying Homepage tab - I did find a way of permanently disabling it on my main machine at home but darned if I can remember off the top of the head how

I don't know if 4.0 has the same issues that 3.6 did, but you needed to rename the extensions directory before it would load....see here: Fatal Error Unhandled Exception... - Ask LibreOffice
