Need Help in Finding a Office Communications Application

Hi,

A friend of mine who just started a small company with 30 workstations asked me a question that I couldn't answer. He used a piece of software before that did the following:

1. IM over the local network.
2. A user with elevated privileges was able to see the chats of other users in real time.

He asked me if I had any clue what software this was and I had no clue. Any ideas guys?

Oreo27, looks like no one has a clue to solve your question.

Can it be assumed that you have searched google and bing for the solution?

Well, you can count me in that group. I've found several but it doesn't seem to do number 2. Google did not yield any results. Bing is something I've never used.

No worries mate. It looks like this is not an easy application to find. My theory is it's custom coded for a company and not released to the public.

Probably not, as neither of these have this feature:

Thanks for the input though

Where did your friend get the former software?
Google Ajax Chat and see if it might fit the bill.

Try MS Office Communicator with the Live Meeting plug-in. I used this at my last job and it worked great.

You could try IP Messenger (IP Messenger)

I have used it previously and it works fine on a local network and has the following features
* Serverless message communication
* Fast file/folder transfer
* Image embeded message, desktop (area specified) capture
* Message encrytion(RSA2048bit + AES256bit) and sign/verify (PKCS#1-v1_5)

As for the second requirement, it could be a bit hard to find an application that does it.
