How to display glass when using remote connection? (SoftXpand)

I've used a the tutorials here on Windows 7 Forums a few times, but although I'm a frequent poster over at Tom's Hardware, I haven't joined here - at least not till now.

While reading a post on Tom's, someone asked whether softXpand (MiniFrame - Multiseat PC software) worked. I was curious, so I downloaded it, scanned it for anything naughty (and did so again with multiple tools when the installer made me suspicious by asking that I disable my antivirus during the install) and tried it out.

Well, turns out, it works a charm, and my GTX 670 is more than enough to let me play on my 120Hz monitor and connect my old monitor and some peripherals to let my friends play when they come over. The only performance issue I noticed was that it took a few more seconds to alt+tab out of a game when I had the other monitor on, but since that was the same if I was simply using it as a second monitor, I wasn't worried.

In fact, I was so impressed that I bought a licence to the software - it was less than the price of a game and would let me play games more easily with my friends.

Well... that's when I noticed that my UI wasn't quite right - my windows weren't aero. That's an easy enough fix, I thought. Whoops, no it isn't. Apparently Windows can't display glass when connected remotely, which, I think, is what softXpand is doing to trick the computer into using two mice and keyboards for different displays? I'm not really sure, but what I know is that 1) I can't enable glass - switching to a theme that has it simply gives me the opaque, very ugly aero, and 2) when I go back to my normal theme, in which the taskbar is white, the start menu and notification area are still the blue of basic aero.

Anyone have an idea in which I can have my taskbar and windows look 'right' without having to not use my brand new software?

I was told that the fix should be running the windows experience index again, but when I try to do so, I get the following error:

:The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be computed:
"Cannot complete the requested formal assessment. Formal assessments cannot be run over a terminal server session. Please try again by running directly on the system's physical monitor, keyboard, and mouse."

The trouble is, I am using the system's physical peripherals - and in SoftXPand, they're marked as Workstation 1 (primary).
