try going into the advanced settings next to the hidden attribute and uncheck the box that says "allow Files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"

I'll leave this thread open for now but despite checking these things over a few times, as of yesterday I've only had hidden files that were appearing because of the "Recent Places" function of Windows 7 (the shortcuts wern't hidden). Fortunatly, I think I've managed to disable this now but because I'm sure that in the past files/folders that wouldn't be in in "Recent Places" have appeared and because I'm not 100% sure that I've fully disabled the "Recent Places" function, I'll leave this thread open for now.

Taskbar (Auto-Hide) doesn't hide all the way?
My friend was wandering how you could get rid of that barely top part of the task bar when it is in auto-hide. So is this possible? Note: You have to look really close to see it.

Auto-hide Taskbar Fails to Auto-hide
