Req Suggestion for program for repetitive formatted PDF / Word files

Hi,

I have to generate .doc or .pdf files with similar formatting but slightly different content on a regular basis.

I use MS word and freeware pdf printer utility. I copy content from previous file, paste, edit and print.

I'd prefer something smarter - that saves that layout and content, I have to just make necessary changes and it saves file in a database as pdf or doc file. If it can create a database with indexed links to all files, it'd be awesome.

Its similar to receipts, only few changes and rest of layout and header, footer are same.

Pls suggest. Thanks in advance.

It is really easy using templates. Do like this:
  • Open the document you want to use as template
  • Edit document to contain the parts which remain same in each document
  • Remove / fill with blanks the parts that will be changed in new documents
  • Save it as Word Template:

Size: 7.5 KB
To use your template, click File > New > Personal to open the list of your templates, select the one you need:

Size: 8.6 KB

I know about word templates but yet to try out.

Is there a way to auto save a pdf form in new file every time automatically?

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean? To use template to create a new file and automatically save it as PDF? If that is your question, the answer is no.

Templates are really easy to create and use and they can make your work easy. Try the instruction in my previous post.

PDFCreator has an auto-save feature. You can make all of your Word docs and then "print" them all at once via Windows (file) Explorer [select all files of interest, right click and select print].

I've done this lots of times and PDFCreator puts the PDFs in the same folder as the Word docs being printed. However, the latest version wants to put them in one directory that you specify. I hope that I find a work around for that the next time I need to create several dozen PDF files all at once and from different folders..
