I'm trying to install the software that came with my HP Photosmart R967 camera. I am the only user on this laptop, so it is an administrator account.
When I insert the CD, I get an error message that says that I must "log on a Administrator". How can I run the autorun.inf file an as administrator?

Automatically, autorun.inf will never be run as administrator, for security purposes (it has been and still is one of the greatest security flaws in Windows). What it does is just to run another program, and that other program seems to require administrator rights.
Just open the CD drive with Windows Explorer and look for a setup.exe, or install.exe or something like that, that is the actual program pointed out inside autorun.inf, then run that as administrator.
Normally autorun.inf should be very small, just specifying the icon for the CD drive and the program to run automatically, and barely anything else. Most often when I see larger files I just can think about viruses hiding in it. The only program that really matters is the one pointed out in the autorun file, which is the actual installer and is the one that must be run as admin (and ideally should be manifested as such).
The autorun.inf file isn't executable to begin with, so it can't be run at all (as admin or not). It just contain metadata to launch something else on drive insertion. That "something else" is what can be run as admin.
Norton AntiVirus didn't find any viruses in autorun.inf.
Autorun.inf is a text file (not an executable), however it is run from AutoPlay.
Autorun.inf points to two executable files: setup.exe and hpzSetup.exe. It looks like everything else are options or variables that are being passed to the setup program. I've renamed it to a .txt extension and uploaded it, if you wanted to take a look at it.

The autorun file seems to have lots of tasks predefined in it so running just the setup.exe might not do the trick. Anyway, did you try right clicking the setup.exe file and clicking "Run as administrator?"
Also, you may temporarily enable the builtin admin account in Windows, login using it, install the software and disable it back.
Here's how, if you're interested:
Click start - right click Computer - click Manage - now expand "Local users and groups" on left pane and the click "Users" - on the right pane you will find an "Administrator" with description "Built-in account for administering the computer/domain" - double click it and uncheck "Account is disabled" and click OK.
Now log off and you'll find a new account - log into it and install the software. Now go back to your main account and check back "Account is disabled" to disable that "super admin" builtin account.

Running setup.exe as Administrator gives me the following error:
Computer Management didn't have a Local users and groups in the left pane, but I was able to find instructions elsewhere. Unfortunately, logging in with the hidden Administrator account still gave me the same error:
I will try downloading the software from the HP website.

Make sure you don't use the "Run as admin" option while you are in the hidden admin account, just let it autorun.
Shane, did you try it with UAC turned off?
