    Belarc Info

I had to contact Asus re: MOBO info.
They asked for the serial # and I opened Belarc, but was told the info was incorrect.
I looked at original box and the # was indeed different.

    Why the discrepancy?

    Thanks, Paul

Maybe it was a packaging error at the factory. Instead of putting mobo # "567" into the box labeled "567" it got put into the box labeled "345" by mistake. So even though your mobo's s/n (according to Belarc) is "567", Asus recorded it as "345" because that's what was on the box that got sent out.

Have no idea what you are talking about.
The serial # from Belarc does not match what is on the box - which is correct.

    What is 567 and 345?

He's saying that perhaps Asus had the wrong MB in the box. Their records show the serial# on the box as correct since that is what they recorded. However the MB inside the box did not match. 567 and 345 were just used as examples.

Sisoft Sandra will show the serial Number. Download and install, on the hardware tab, choose the Mainboard icon, give it some time to load

    Download Sandra Lite 2013 SP3a (19.44) - FileHippo.com

Sandra also shows a different serial # (same s Belarc)

I contacted Belarc and they said the # is what is in the BIOS of MOBO. and to contact Asus about this discrepancy.

Waiting to hear back from them (looked in BIOS, but don't see serial #)

I used the System Information tab in AI Suite II to see what the serial number of my MOBO is and compared it to the one on the sticker on the box. They are also radically different; the one displayed in AI Suite is all numbers and the one on the box is a mix of different numbers and some letters. Odd that.

Thanks for that - didn't know I could look in System Info on Asus Suite.
The # also is the same as Belarc and Sandra are reporting.

I just posted a question on the ASUS tech forum for my MOBO asking about the discrepancy. I'll let you all know when I get a response (that forum doesn't exactly get a lot of activity).

I just found a response to my query:

"The only way any application can display information is if it is programmed into hardware.. Asus does not program the mainboard serial number into the BIOS.. so all you see in 3rd party applications ia a placeholder."

It is curious two different 3rd party applications use the same "placeholder" as their own application. I've asked if others with my MOBO get the same results.
