I down loaded Lightscribe from lightscribe.com when I pick a design & put in the expensive lightscribe CD you say print & preview. Nothing happens. The box doesnt show the picture and I cant print it. When my friend does this it shows a pic & then you hit print. You cant hit print on mine & doent show pic. I down loaded lightscibe, templates, & template labeler. Help The Drive box is empty & doesnt have any info in it

Acer Aspire V3-571-6643 It worked one time great about a month ago. Now when I went to use it I had these problems. I deleted it & reinstalled it & still the same. Thank u for taking the time to help me. Here is the information you asked for. It is such a cool thing would enjoy it if it was working. Plus I bought the DVD & CD.

Are you sure your machine has a Lightscribe drive? I just checked Acer's overview and nothing was said about it having a Lightscribe drive which is odd because, if it does, that would be an advertising point the marketing suits would not be likely to pass on. I also read the blurbs on it from Amazon and Newegg and all anyone says is the drive is a DVD Super Multi drive. The three DVD Super Multi drives (including the Blu-Ray model) stocked by Newegg say nothing about having Lightscribe support.

To be able to print a label on a Lightscribe CD or DVD, you have to have a LightScribe compatible drive; not just any drive is capable of doing so even if you download the software. Also, the fact you had to download the software suggests it didn't come with your machine and, if you machine had come with a Lightscribe drive, it would have had the software preinstalled so I'm reasonably sure you do not have a Lightscribe compatible drive.

Not all Lightscribe compatible drives will have the Lightscribe logo on them. The LG drive I put in my desktop doesn't have the logo (it gave me a panic attack when I first got it) and I've burned a few Lightscribe disks, label and all, on it. The OP's drive is in a laptop so there might not be room for a logo on such a thin drive.

I used that for a little while and it is a POS. I went back to using a sharpie , at least I can see it.

I agree it is a bit inconvenient to make disks with Lightscribe since it takes twenty or thirty minutes to burn the label. The labels are low contrast, even on the high contrast setting, but I have no trouble reading them and they look much more professional than when using a Sharpie, especially with my horrible penmanship.

Notebooks and some computers that use slim drives may not have enough space on the drive tray for the LightScribe logo, but a sticker should be attached to the computer.

You can also easily identify these drives by looking for the presence of the special sensor. Click here to see a picture where the sensor is identified with a red circle.

I think it must have the Drive. In April I down loaded the program from Light Scribe web site. I made two DVDs with the music Template. It was so cool. Now I went to do it a Month or so later & it doesnt work. I can go to the Design. I can edit & put in the Text that I want on it. Then when I hit Preview & Print nothing Shows up in The Box. Before it Showed up & I hit Print. It does take about 20 minutes to finish but it was pretty cool. Now I cant get to the Print stage.
