Windows 7: Adobe pdf thumbnails in explorer - x64

Adobe pdf thumbnails in explorer - x64

I understand that this has apparently been a problem since Vista x64 and that it's and Adobe issue vs. MS.
I tried searching these forums for this issue and had a zillion hits.

Basically on x64 Windows 7 explorer will not show the thumbnails with Adobe Acrobat as the pdf viewer (reader, pro, extended). It's such a minor thing but it is something that is a tad annoying.

Has this been resolved to anyone's knowledge for the x64 systems?
