    Questions on Installing 7-zip.

    Hi,
I would like to be able to download Perl modules on my Windows 7 system and to that end I downloaded 7-zip.
Once I had downloaded 7-zip, I right clicked on the Perl module in Perl64\lib and saw that 7-zip was presented as an option. I selected the "unzip here" option and found that IO::Tee-0.64.tar.gz was unzipped into a IO::Tee-0.64.tar file.
It is my understanding that I need to code 7z x IO::Tee-0.64.tar at the command prompt in order to process this file, but when I attempt that I'm told that 7z is not a valid command.
I have researched this problem on the web, but am still uncertain what I need to do.
I am also unable to bring up the gui version of the command.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,

You need the standalone 7ZIP executable (7za.exe) to run it from a command-line.

    Download it here:

    Thanks, Golden, for the information.
But I must be missing a step or two. I download the file into 7a442.zip in my Downloads folder. I then unzip the file, creating the directory 7za442. But there never is an option to install the command, so I just copied the 7za442 directory into Program Files.
This doesn't work, of course, and when I attempt to run 7za442.exe, I'm told that no such command exists.
    Sincerely,
