If you first disable all of the programs features and make sure that it is no longer being used by Windows, I see no reason why it would cause any problems.
To uninstall it, you could follow option one
I do however agree with Lady Fitzgerald
. To be sure, you best could make a system image right before you attempt to uninstall it, and if the uninstallation does cause any problems, simply restore the image.
