Just tried ADW and it deleted some folders and stuff but didn't fix the issue.

Do you have the latest version of Audacity? (2.0.4)

Have you tried resetting Audacity?

Have you tried looking through the Audacity Forums?

I'm fairly sure it is a problem with Windows Explorer as it happens when trying to save a project file in Sony Vegas and when trying to open a photoshop document in Photoshop. (The Photoshop thing only makes it crash if I open a file from within Photoshop, if I go to Explorer and double-click the file it works fine.) Could reinstalling my OS fix the problem?

If you have the original Dell factory preinstall it's an inferior install which most tech enthusiasts will not run. I'd definitely Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 sticking closely with the tools and methods which assure a perfect install.

To get it cleanest first run the Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the from boot to test hardware, see if it will boot and run. If so then I'd only keep the OEM Tools partition since Recovery won't run after a clean install anyway. Delete all other partitions during booted install, create new as you wish or just highlight the Unallocated Space and click Next to begin install.

When I backup my files before doing this do I need to backup everything or just what's in the user folder? Just a little worried about losing things since I've never re-installed an OS before.

Everything that needs to be remembered for backup is compiled in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

The best way to organize your files to back up is to sort everything into the User folders and drag them to an external HD, another HD, or other storage. This is explained in detail in the tutorial.

Just as Greg says mate you only need that personal data docs pics etc save all that and do the clean install Greg quoted it is brilliant and you will not get all that crapware that one gets with prebuilts. Believe me you will see such a difference I did with both my Toshiba's and boy do they come with some crapware.

Used it on one and an OEM on the other but that was my choice at the time before I knew of he tutorial

I tried looking through the tutorial to be clear on one thing but I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. Is everything wiped from the computer when you clean re-install?

Yes, you should delete all partitions during the booted install to get it cleanest. This will wipe out everything.

The first steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 deal with making sure you back up everything so you won't lose anything.

Can the "All Programs/Back" & "Search" entries be removed?
Using the Windows Classic theme, can the 'All Programs' & 'Search' (which is useless) be completely removed from the Start Menu? I'm talking about the entry All Programs bar and the Search entry, or can the useless MS Search be replaced with one of the many substitutes? I do not mean the Search...

Account "Roger" appears as "c:\users\user"
Hi all, I recently created a new user account on a win 7 home premium machine before I'd had much experience with win 7 (but years with 2000 and xp). Instead of users\Roger\ it created users\user which I now realise is not correct. (I didn't call my account "user", either, before you ask. :) )...

How to default to "Browse Folders" on "Save as.."
Whenever I perform a "Save As..." or a "Save File" (e.g. with an email attachment), the pop-up save menu always defaults to NOT displaying the navigation pane(s) showing the existing folders/files in the target folder - see thumbnail below left. To view the folder tree and folder/file list (see...

Windows 7 "Check for updates" window appears in blank!
I've tried some solutions to this rare situation and nothing. I mean the following: By the way, I've noted that: 1.- In 'View-Choose Details' window, there is "Name" option only (may be this is normal): 2.- But, in 'Tools-Folder Options' window, in the 'View' tab, option "Always show...

Can you add the "Navigation Pane" to a programs save dialogue window?
Hey, I searched for this but I admit I wasn't overly thorough. So I apologise in advance if this has already been answered. In some programs (eg. Firefox) the save dialogue window has the Navigation pane on the left. Whereas other programs (eg. Foxit reader, acrobat reader) do not. I find...
