Adobe "You need to install a printer"

I'm running Acrobat Pro 9 with Windows 7 professional. I randomly get this error message when I attempt to print:
Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer.

I have several printers that are listed and I did not change anything. My default printer works properly with other software. I can print from Adobe most of the time, but this error message is driving me nuts. Any ideas how and why this happens and how this can be fixed?

Danny have you checked that the printer you use the most or prefer is ticked in Devices and Printers?

If so have you downloaded the latest drivers and mate I prefer to go to the manufacturers site rather than do it through Windows.

Nothing has changed in the Printers folder and my drivers are up to date.

Ok mate might be worth running these SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
    and
    Disk Check for starters
and then these if you haven't already

    The Correct Fix

    Hi,

I know this post is for an older thread but this fix still applies today even under Windows 7 Pro x64 with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

The Correct fix is to go to this website: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/p...robat-9-4.html

Download and save the file called AcrobatPatchApplication.exe and then run it while Adobe Acrobat Pro is Not running.

I did not have to reboot and I was able to print again! This has happened more than once on this newer system and the only fix besides rebooting is to run the file I listed above. It seems Adobe thinks this only happens with the 9.4.2 update but I have the latest and last version of Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 and I still get this printing error from time to time.

Now I keep a shortcut of the file on my desktop so if it happens again, I can close out of Acrobat Pro then run this "fix" and then start Acrobat back up again and print just fine!

    Good luck.

Sounds like Fixit's suggestion is worth a try Danny if nothing else it cannot do any harm. If it works then all credit to Fixit.
