XPS viewer stopped working

Having little luck with the xps viewer these days. It crashes as soon as you open it.
I downloaded another xps viewer, made by Dolphin, xps viewer 1.1; it's doing the same thing. Any ideas? It's sad that no other program seems to be able to open those files. BTW, Windows built-in JPG viewer doesn't work either. I have been using a program called JPEGView, which I am happy with. It's just strange that my Windows 7 installation seems to be bugged. Don't see any downloads from Microsoft for xps viewer, not for Windows 7. It'd be nice to be able to repair it. Thanks in advance for your tips.

Try running the troubleshooter

Start> In search box type Devices and printers> Enter> When the devices page opens> Right click on XPS printer and choose Troubleshoot

See if it finds any issues, it will try to have you make it default, you could try that and see if it makes any difference.

If that doesn't work, try removing and reinstalling the XPS printer

Start> In search box type Devices and printers> Enter> When the devices page opens> Right click on XPS printer and choose Remove device> When is asks "Are you sure you want to remove this device", click Yes> In the top toolbar click on Add a printer> Choose Add a local printer> Check Use an existing port and choose XPSPort: (Local Port) from the drop down list> Click Next> On the Manufacturer list choose Microsoft> On the Printers list choose Microsoft XPS Document Writer> Click Next> Choose Replace the current driver button> Click Next> Choose whether you want to share the printer or not> Click Next> Uncheck Set as the default printer> Try printing the test page> Click on Finish

See if that works. If no help, try running the System File Checker

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Thanks, A Guy. Good tip, and I'll keep it in mind. It makes sense. But since that post, several days back, I reinstalled Windows. So my issues have been fixed in a different way.
