Cenatek Ramdisk - working !

Hi,

to install the cenatek ramdisk please follow this steps:

Download the Ramdisk from

CENATEK: High Speed Storage Systems

Select the 1st one on the top (Public Beta V.3.5.107) and save the msi file to c:\

Don't start the MSI, it will not work.

Decompress the MSI-File (Start/Run CMD as Administrator):

msiexec /a Dataram_RAMDisk_v3.5.107.msi /qn TARGETDIR=C:\Driver

Since we have no "add hardware" in control panel, we have to install this driver manually.
The Hardware-Wizard still exist.

Start/Search -> hdwwiz.exe

I don't know the exact text, because i'm using the german version...
- Button "next"
- select "hardware manually (expert)"
- Button "next"
- select "All Devices"
- Button "next"

Now you have to search for the Button "have disk". in my german version i can see only 10 % from the button in the lower right side.
click on this button and search for the folder

C:\Driver\Program Files(x86)\Ramdisk

select RAMDiskVE.inf

- Button "OK"
- Button "next"
- Button "next"

To Configure the Ramdisk start the programm

C:\Driver\Program Files(x86)\RamdiskVE.exe

FYI:

I'm using the QSoft Ramdisk from ramdisk.tk
This one is 30 % faster. I've tested both ramdisk with "Virtual PC 2007" and "VMware".
I put the Virtual Disk File (WinXP) in the Ramdisk and made Benchmarks with HDTune.

QSoft Ramdisk: 450 MByte / Sec. :-)

Greeting from Germany

If you have one or two SSD. you should try to MFT!!!!

Really serious about increasing the speed of the SSD

Read this

Quote:
MFT also extends the useful life of Flash Media, increasing the effective erase life of Flash Drives more than 50 times, and making them suitable both for workstation and high performance server usage.Best of all, flash drives with MFT cost less than premium hard drives, and not that much more than commodity hard disks.Patent pending Managed Flash Technology (MFT) is software that performs random writes up to a thousand times faster than was ever possible before.Flash Solid State Drives (SSDs) random read up to fifty times faster than Hard Disks but random write a hundred times slower than they random read. Thus, bare SSDs normally perform no better than Hard Disks.MFT enabled Flash Disks operate up to fifty times faster than a Hard Disk. A customer said: "MFT reduced my end of day job from 10 hours 55 minutes to 27 minutes.”MFT increases the write-life of Flash Disks more than 50-fold. MFT makes low cost MLC SSDs suitable for high performance servers. As MLC drives cost about the same as high performance Hard Disks, MFT is the way to dramatically increase performance at almost no cost.MFT is software that loads on your Win or Linux computer. It will work with virtually any Flash SSD. MFT enabled MLC drives cost half of high performance bare SLC flash drives and perform seven times as fast: a 14:1 value advantage.MFT enabled SLC drives deliver maximum performance and write-life for 24x7 enterprise applications.
