As maxie correctly said, keep them all. If you run a program written with .net, you need to have correct version of the .net framework, that the program was written with. They don't conflict with each other.

In general, you should not uninstall any versions of the .NET Framework that are installed on your computer, because an application you use may depend on a specific version and may break if that version is removed. You can load multiple versions of the .NET Framework on a single computer at the same time. This means that you can install the .NET Framework without having uninstall previous versions. For more information, see Getting Started with the .NET Framework.

There seems to be quite a few of these questions recently, maybe someone should be create a thread or guide explaining why you need or should keep all the .NET Framework updates installed.

thanks for the replys but everything u said i knew beforehand and my mind was thinking on the same lines but why make new versions when the new one cant handle the older one as well

i mean we live in an age where everything changes by the minute and when microsoft comes with the update it should know that older things need to be covered up or otherwise whats the purpose of the new thing

i have nothing against the new version but generally speaking shouldnt everything new cover the previous as well so a guy like me who has little space can keep them

It's difficult to make new specifications and frameworks backwards compatible with everything.
