    data recovery software recommendation query

anyone have a recommendation on a data recovery software.

I accidentally wiped out the d: drive partition which was a result of my attempt to refresh win7 which was mis-behaving. It was telling me my copy was invalid.

    it appears to be recoverable.

I was given a couple of suggestions, Recuva & EaseUs.

any other suggestions or reviews of other data recovery software.

I've used Zero Assumption Recovery (ZAR) on an XP machine before. It's not free but it works. The older version was a little hard to understand all the options but the new version is easier. It bit analyzes the drive end-to-end and makes no difference on partitions. If the drive is functional, it can read it and will attempt to rebuild the file/folder and NTFS table structures.

Well, I would like to refer Kernel for Windows Data Recovery Software for the recovery of your data from formatted hard drive. It is so effective tool for data recovery from Windows File system and recovers all data successfully within a short interval of time.

Generally, there is no one size fits all in Data Recovery.

There is a whole bunch of free programs amongst which one may be better than the other in a particular case.

So here is an opportunity for you to try all and tell us which one fitted you perfectly.:)

Normally though, I stick to PhotoRec.

    Partition Recovery

    Hi,

Just a quick comment about recovering lost partitions or data from them. I've had great results using Lazesoft Recovery Suite (free). Data needs to be recovered to a different partition.

Lazesoft Recovery Suite Free, Free Windows System Recovery, Free Data Recovery, Free Windows Password Recovery, Free Disk Clone

It's easy to use but if you want full forensic HD analysis and file recovery you could try Autopsy - it's really not very easy to use but it is very thorough.
